Nettle & Oatmeal Soap

Min 100g

I used to make Nettle & Oatmeal soap more than twenty years ago and it was always a firm favourite with my customers.

I collect young nettle tops from a local organic farm, Caerhys , near St Davids.

Oatmeal (Avena sativa) has been documented for its use in skincare as far back as 2000 BC as it contains saponins which have intense cleansing properties

It is used in many food and cosmetic products as it is packed with essential minerals and vitamins. Oatmeal offers a pleasant and effective exfoliating texture and is a humectant, meaning it helps moisturize skin. It contains both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and is ideal for sensitive skin, helping to relieve itchy and uncomfortable conditions. Studies have revealed that the beta glucan contained in rolled oats has the capability to control bacterial infections in the body.

Nettle (Urtica dioica) is a fantastic herb with many uses – including food, clothing and skincare products. It is excellent for treating eczema and other itchy skin conditions and can be used as a natural deep cleanser, especially useful for oily skin. It is used in bath soaks, body wraps, facials, soaps and salves. Nettles are said to encourage hair growth and can be added to hair wraps. It is anti-inflammatory, astringent, ant-bacterial, healing, mildly deodorant and stimulating.
